The Start of Something Insane

Most people want more out of life — more adventure, more fulfillment, more stories to tell. But somewhere between dreaming and doing, reality sneaks in with its long list of “reasons why not.”

So, they stay put. They keep the stable job, the comfortable home, the predictable routine. And when someone else dares to jump headfirst into their dreams, the reaction is often:
“Wow… really?”
Translation: That sounds crazy. Who even does that?

Yasmina did.

When she was young, she dreamed of leaving Morocco and starting a life in America. She didn’t wait until she had a perfect plan or a perfect bank account — she came with $100 in her pocket and the determination to make it work. To most people, that wouldn’t be just brave… it’d be insane.

Now, decades later, we’re at it again. After raising five kids in our blended family, building careers, and settling into the rhythms of American life, we’re doing something that makes a lot of people raise an eyebrow: we’re leaving the U.S. — the place we’ve both called home for most of our lives — to move to Europe.

To some, this sounds risky. To others, inspiring. But to us?
It’s just the next chapter. Okay, it does sound occasionally a bit insane.

Because sometimes “insane” is just another word for refusing to let fear or comfort decide your future.

And so here we are — starting something insane. Again.
